Albany -- The start of the Christian holy week begins. Southwest Georgians join Christians across the world in celebrating Palm Sunday.

Members of St. Teresa's Catholic Church received a palm leaf during today's mass. Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ's entry into Jerusalem.

Christians use this day to anticipate Jesus's cruxifiction and his resurrection on Easter Sunday. Palm leaves were placed along Jesus' path as he walked into Jerusalem.

"You should try to feel how the Lord Jesus Christ suffered on the cross for our sins. For me, it's very important," said Catalina Salas.
