Camilla--Georgia firefighters will soon have to go through more training to learn to keep you safe.
Tonight, firefighters in Mitchell County talked about new state regulations to require a minimum level of training for new recruits.
Right now, there are no mandated minimum requirements. The regulations would also increase the number of annual training hours current firefighters must complete.
"It's all in good for the citizens of the state of Georgia because you'll have more experienced and better fire fighters to do their jobs," says Bobby Beck, with Mitchell the Mitchell County Fire Fighter Association.
The state is also considering whether to mandate fitness programs for firefighters.
