Albany leaders vote against Confederate History resolution
April 4, 2006
Albany - Albany commissioners won't support a resolution recognizing April as Confederate History Month. The Albany chapter of the Sons of the Confederacy asked city commissioners to proclaim the month, but commissioners voted four to two not to pass an official resolution.
Commissioner Tommy Postell said many people associate Confederacy organization with the KKK, and the city should be hesitant to acknowledge Confederate History Month. But supporters told commissioners last week confederate history is not about slavery, racism and bigotry.
