Albany - The South Georgia Wildcats will open the 2006 arena two football season this Saturday night at the Albany Civic Center against the Tennessee Valley Vipers.
On Monday, the Wildcats releasing their roster for their first game and 13 players will seeing their first AF2 action Saturday night for the Wildcats.
At quarterback will be Brian Baker, who has one year of AF2 experience and former Mitchell-Baker standout Dondial Pinkins who is playing his first season of pro ball.
Veteran Rodney Woodham is scheduled to start at offensive specialist with Chris McKinney, one of six returning Wildcats, could play that position or could move to wide receiver/linebacker.
Former Albany State standout Alvin Ray Jackson, Darryl Johnson and Elliott Burkes, who was
re-signed after being released with Antwone Savage two weeks ago, will also see action at receiver and on defense.
Antonio Leroy, Jason Null and rookie James Harris will play fullback/linebacker and James McCoy and Blake Saunders are the defensive specalists.
The line will be led by former Georgia Southern great Eric Davis and feature former Albany State stars Rodney Magwood, Elliott Bond and Jarvis Davis, Tracy Flournoy from Valdosta State and Brent Sanders and Brian Smith.
Former Georgia Tech kicker Dan Burnett will handle the kicking duties for the Wildcats.
The Wildcats season opener is Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at the Albany Civic Center.
