Cairo kids jump rope their way to healthy hearts

March 31, 2006

Cairo- Students at a Cairo Elementary School raise nearly five thousand dollars just by staying active. Eastside Elementary held its Jump Rope for Heart Health fun day today.

Students jumped rope, hoolahooped, and exercised for their physical education classes. Both the kids and the American Heart Association share in the rewards.

"They can actually put together these things when you actually show them their heart rate is up, what their heart does for their entire body and they have a great time," said Coach Becky Bracewell, Eastside Elementary.

The principal signed a check to the American Heart Association for more than $4,900 raised by the second, third, fourth, and fifth graders at Eastside Elementary.
