South Georgia tax preparers warn, don't wait

March 29, 2006

Cairo- The bad news is time is running out to file your tax return. The good news is many tax preparers will be adding office hours to help last minute filers.

There are only 18 days before your tax return must be post marked and on its way to the IRS. Tax preparers warn not to wait until the last minute to file your return. Starting next week, many offices will extend their hours and H&R Block will be open on Sundays including Easter Sunday. Tax preparers caution procrastinators to get them done early in case problems arise.

"It's really hard to tell exactly what you're going to have and we may need to do some research on it so that we make sure everything is correct when its sent in so, you don't get any nasty letters from the IRS," said Donna Freeman, H&R Block Cairo Office Manager

Tax preparers in the Cairo H&R Block office were busy Wednesday with drop off returns. Your taxes or an extension must be filed by April 17th.
