Robbery suspect arrested

March 22, 2006

Albany -- A man accused of robbing a convenience store a couple of weeks ago is in jail.

Dougherty County police investigators found 21-year-old Michael Pike in a house in the 1000 block of West Lincoln Avenue Tuesday. He's charged with one count of armed robbery.

Investigators say Pike robbed the Quick Buys on Sylvester Road March 10th. The clerk said a man wearing a mask pointed a gun at him, took the money, and ran.

A witness saw the gunman jump into a car on Ramsey Road, and he gave police the tag number. The car owner, 27-year-old Shaun Yocum, was arrested about an hour later.

Investigators say a tip led them to Pike yesterday. "They have been good enough to call us. Finally yesterday we were able to get up on him at the thousand block of West Lincoln. He stayed there, and we were able to take him down without incident," said Dougherty Co. Police Detective Calvin Cleveland.

Pike and Yocum are both being held in the Dougherty County jail.
