Valdosta -- A South Georgia jailer is arrested for having sexual contact with an inmate.
Twenty-three-year-old Andrew Lee Wade, a jail operations officer at the Lowndes County jail, is charged with one count of violation of oath of office and two counts of sexual assault on an inmate.
Investigators received information that Wade was having a relationship with the inmate, and he admitted having sexual contact with her on two different occasions at the jail.
"The sheriff tells our employees on a regular basis if you want to lose you job at the sheriff's office, then you tarnish the badge that we polish," said Sheriff's Capt. J. D. Yeager.
A female jailer was also fired for allowing Wade into an area with the inmate. She has not been charged criminally. Wade had been employed at the jail for two years.
