Clyattville - U.S.Senator Johnny Isakson says he's working for educational improvements in South Georgia .

Senator Isakson held a listening session with parents and teachers at Clyattville Elementary School in Lowndes County Tuesday. Educators shared concerns on everything from meeting the No Child Left Behind requirements to recruiting and retaining qualified teachers, and improving Adequate Yearly Progress scores.

Isakson says events like this weigh heavily when he's casting his votes in Washington.  "I try to meet with teachers, parents, and administrators all over the state about their concerns and success stories, so when I'm voting in Washington, I'm not just voting on what I've heard, I'm voting on what I've seen," said Isakson.

Senator Isakson is co-author of the No Child Behind Act and now serves on the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions.
