Albany -- The Albany Fire Department has a new Deputy Chief. David Eddins was promoted to the number two management job in the Fire Department this week.
The 41 year old Eddins has worked at the Albany Fire Department for 18 and a half years.
Eddins says he wants to make sure Albany's firefighters stay on top of the latest advancements in their field. Eddins said "One of the biggest things coming into the fire service since my time being here is technology. With computers, advancements in equipment, I liked to be part of what brings that to the forefront of our department."
The Albany Fire Department has been without assistant or deputy chiefs since James Arrowood retired in April 2005.
Chief James Carswell said he plans to rebuild the Fire Department's management positions in the next months.
