Albany - Dougherty High head football coach Carror Wright has to replace 32 seniors from last year's state runner-up squad.
He also has to find a new defensive coordinator.
Wright has lost defensive coordinator Reginald Mitchell to a crosstown rival.
The Dougherty County school board on Monday night approved Mitchell's hiring as the head football coach at Albany High.
It is the first head coaching job for Mitchell for played at Valdosta High.
Last year, the Dougherty High defense held opponents to seven points or less in eight of their 15 games.
Reginald Mitchell succeeds Scott Horton who stepped down back in June when he was promoted to assistant principal at Albany High.
Albany High assistant Glenn Davis served as the interim head coach for the Indians.
Davis was one of six candidates who were also interviewed for the job.
