Tifton -- Tifton police arrested a man early Saturday morning after he attempted to run from officers.

Investigators say 31-year old James Stephens escaped from a motel room at Super-8 in Tifton when police tried to serve a probation warrant.

The man then ran to a nearby Krystal's and carjacked an SUV.

Police chased the man before he was caught on Virginia Avenue headed toward U.S. 82.

Investigators say Stephens had 11 outstanding warrants and six more from Saturday morning.
