Albany -- A nine-year-old girl was seriously injured Saturday evening after she was hit by a car in Albany. She was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in serious condition.

The girl was crossing the road with her older sister in the 2800 block of Palmyra Road. Investigators say the girl walked into the road with oncoming traffic.

Witnesses say the car that hit the girl was going the legal speed limit. No charges have been filed.

The girl has since been air-lifted to another hospital, no word yet on her condition.
