Health fair gives students look at health careers

March 8, 2006

Albany -- Darton College students got a look at the latest in community health awareness .

Darton's annual Health Fair brought in dozens of exhibitors for the students to learn from, and get their own health checks.

Free blood pressure screenings were provided. The students could even get a demonstration of a professional massage. Dougherty County E.M.S. gave lessons in C.P.R., and how to use a defibrilator.

Darton Senior Nursing Student Pam Amos said "Our desire is to get the community aware of things they can do to promote their health, and prevent a lot of health problems."

There were also exhibits from the Albany Police Department warning about the dangers of drinking and driving.

The Darton Association of Nursing Students puts on the annual Health Fair, to give students an idea about career choices in the health field.
