Douglas- A payroll clerk for the city of Douglas is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from the city. Thirty nine year old Deia "Michelle" Wilkerson was arrested last week and charged with theft by taking. She's worked as a city clerk for the last four years.

"Right now it's an ongoing investigation, the GBI has told us basically they'll get back with us as soon as they conclude their investigation, it will come back to us and we'll make a decision whether to proceed or not," said Mayor Tony Paulk.

Wilkerson works in the city's payroll department handling deductions from employee pay checks into the city's credit union.
