Cordele -- A century-old breed of hunting dog competes in Crisp County.

Young French Brittany Spaniels took natural ability tests on fields at Veteran's State Park.

The dogs, all under three years old, were judged on how they respond to their owners, how well they pointed game and if they were not shy to the firing of guns. The tests show if the hunting dogs are ready to starting further training, and a special judge was brought in this year.

Dogs and owners from 20 states are competing, as well as a duo from the South Pole.

There will also be field trials and other competitions held tomorrow and Saturday at the state park.
