Thomasville -- A Thomas County Drug agent is nearly run over during a cocaine bust Tuesday night.
Wednesday, Thomas County Drug Agents checked over the car that struck that agent. It started when agents were waiting for the car at an apartment complex.
When the passenger, Stanley Hailburton, was confronted for selling cocaine, the driver, Joseph Poole, took off.
"When we approached him that's when his vehicle made contact with the agent and knocked him into another vehicle, and then he fled from us," said Commander Kevin Lee of the Thomas County Narcotics Unit.
The agent suffered only cuts and bruises and was released from the hospital last night. Police chased Haliburton and Poole along Highway 19 before they crashed.
They each face a charge of aggravated assault of a police officer. Poole will be charged with other traffic violations, and Haliburton is eventually facing drug charges.
