Thomasville- A warning to truck drivers in Thomasville, use the bypass or get a ticket. Police say too many trucks are driving on Jackson Street and it's dangerous.

So, starting Wednesday, they'll issue warnings to truck drivers who use Jackson Street as a through way and after two weeks those warnings will become tickets.

"State Route 319 or Jackson Street in Thomasville is very congested, it's narrow roads as you get towards downtown and it causes a lot of traffic hazards and we're trying to address that by actually we're going to be giving truck drivers warnings," said Sgt. Rachelle Denmark, Thomasville Police.

Truck drivers who are making deliveries to local business and homes will be the only exception.
