Albany- A man on the run after the murder of his elderly mother in Albany is in jail Tuesday in Tennessee. In August, 86 year old Rosa Tante died of head injuries at the Regency Inn.

Sixty one year old Bardy Tante was arrested at the Grace Church at Franklin in Williamson County, Tennessee Monday night. A friend and elder at the church offered to help him in September. William Sasser eventually alerted Albany police to Tante's whereabouts after discussions about his mother seemed suspicious.

"I've known him since he's been sixteen years old and he's not the kind of person, he doesn't have that type of attitude, he doesn't have that type of intestinal fortitude. He doesn't have what it takes to kill somebody and especially his mother," said William Sasser, Grace Church Elder.

"He'll be held in Nashville, Tennessee and then he will be given the opportunity to waive extradition and he will come back rather quickly. If he decides to fight extradition, it's a formal process between the Governor of the State of Georgia and the Governor of Tennessee," said Ken Hodges, Dougherty District Attorney.

Tante and his mother had been staying together at the Regency. The motel manager found Rosa Tante dead after her son checked out and called several hours later to ask that someone check on his mother.
