Statesboro - New Georgia Southern football coach Brian Van Gorder will face a challenging schedule this fall in Statesboro.
The good news is that the Eagles will play seven games at Paulson Stadium.
The bad news is that three of those opponents were nationally ranked at season end including 2005 NCAA Division 1-AA national champion Appalachian State.
Van Gorder's first game as a head coach is September 9th against Northeast Conference champion Central Connecticut State and that is followed by a visit from Big South Conference power Coastal Carolina the following week.
The Eagles will play Appalachain State on Family Weekend on October 14th and homecoming is the following weekend against Elon.
The Eagles close out their home schedule on November 18th against Central Arkansas.
The Bears are moving up from the Division II level in 2006 and will play in the Southland Conference.
