Albany- Albany's embattled Civic Center Director Mattie Goddard spoke out tonight after finding out she's officially out of a job. She made a final plea to keep her job yesterday, but today, Albany City Manager Alfred Lott told Goddard she's fired. She and her attorney say Lott's decision wasn't made objectively, and they'll continue to fight the termination.
"I know that I have done a good job, and if I can say Mr. Lott doesn't know the operation of the Civic Center and know what we go through in order to make it work and so I know that I have done a good job," said Mattie Goddard, Former Civic Center Director.
"In a war, you're going to lose battles and I don't even know if we consider this a battle, but in the end what you want to do is win the war," said Maurice King, Goddard's attorney.
King plans to file a lawsuit asking that Goddard be reinstated. Goddard is also waiting for a ruling on a discrimination complaint she filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Goddard's last day on the payroll will be Friday.
