Cook County - Things are taking off at South Georgia Motor Sports Park.  "The reputation of the track is growing by leaps and bounds," said Craig Armstrong, Park Promoter.

Word of this premier park is spreading fast, and its drawing in racing enthusiasts from all over the country, like Dan Sweeney of Boston. "I've heard nothing but good things about it, they rave about this place," said Sweeney.

Now even more people will be raving about the track, since the National Hot Road Association named it the 2005 Track of the Year. "Our name is getting out there, we're getting a lot more recognition over the Internet from all these professional teams coming in," said Richard Hall.

Teams that come in, bring their families and fans with them, and spend lots of money in South Georgia. "It's a 37 million dollar regional impact," said Kerry Waldron, Economic Developer.

More than 100,000 fans filled these stands last year, and now with the title of "Track of the Year," even more will be here in 2006.  "In 2005 we had about eight local and six special events and we'll about double that for 2006," said Armstrong.

That means more people staying in our hotels, eating in our restaurants, and filling up their gas tanks at local convenience stores. But Cook County won't be the only place cashing in. "They're going to impact the economy in Cook, Lowndes, North Florida, Albany," said Armstrong.

It's keeping this entire region on the fast track.
