Want to fulfill a love of animals and nature? The Parks at Chehaw needs you.

Everyday people train for a variety of volunteer positions throughout the park. Opportunities include taking care of animals, horticulture and even public education. Vern and Vivian Carter hold the record for most volunteer hours with more than 3,000 combined.

"When you come out here you have to pay attention to what you're doing and what the animals are doing and it also takes you away from life pressures or stress," says Vern Carter.

"We count so much on our volunteers and they're so needed. They're a family to us as well," says Curator of Education Jennifer Arledge.

Volunteers help save the park thousands of dollars. You can attend a volunteer information session at the park Tuesday, February 7th. To reserve a space or for more information call 229-430-3012.
