Albany - The Sherwood Christian girls basketball team is soaring to new altitudes this season.

With one game left in the regular season, the Lady Eagles already have 20 wins and find themselves ranked third in the state in the GISA AAA coaches poll.

Sherwood Christian won the first meeting over at Deerfield-Windsor rallying from a seven point deficit in the 4th quarter.

It was a big road win for the Lady Eagles but perhaps the biggest win that set the stage for this year's season came last year when Sherwood Christian beat the Lady Knights in the finals of the region tournament and won their second ever region championship.

Senior forward Erin Parker said "I believe last year when we won region alot of our younger kids stepped up and it has been really easy transition and it has allowed me and Lacey Foxworth to come back this year and play strong and harder."

Senior guard Lacey Foxworth "Last season when we won region we knew we could do it and we knew this year we could be even stronger if we kept working."

Lady Eagle head coach Gina Mitchell says she has been told that her team's next win will tie the school record.
