Pharmacy tech. arrested for selling drugs

February 2, 2006

Valdosta - A local pharmacy worker is arrested for illegally selling prescription drugs.

Investigators say 38-year-old Dawn Stanaland sold Loratab pain medication and Xanex anxiety pills to people who didn't have prescriptions. Stanaland is a pharmacy technician at Wal-Mart on Inner Perimeter Road in Valdosta.

Police arrested her Wednesday night, now they're trying to figure out if she stole the drugs from Wal-Mart..  "We know she had prescription drugs but we don't want to say yet if she definately got them from her pharmacy, that's still being investigated," said Capt. Brian Childress.

Managers at Wal-Mart say Stanaland is suspended without pay until the investigation is finished.
