Albany - The termination process of Civic Center Director Mattie Goddard is underway. The City Manager suspended Goddard with pay pending her termination February 7th.

Goddard has been under fire from City Manager Alfred Lott since he took control of the city employees in September.

After giving Goddard a failing job evaluation in November, Lott told her to either shape up or get fired. Wednesday, Lott suspended Goddard with pay pending her termination. They will have a meeting on February 7th to discuss that firing.

The 66-year-old Goddard threatened to sue the city if she was fired. She had already filed an EEOC complaint claiming the city manager was discriminating against her because of her age, race and sex. That complaint lead to mediation, but the problem wasn't resolved.

Goddard has been working with the civic center for 22 year and the director for 17 years.

Events Coordinator Roger Burnett will serve as the interim director during Goddard's suspension and after she'd fired.

We're trying to contact Goddard's lawyer, Maurice King, right now to see if and when they plan to sue the city.
