Albany- By this time next year, there should be a walking trail from downtown Albany to Phelima Road. Phase two of the RiverWalk project should get underway in the next several weeks.
It will include a pedestrian bridge from the Civic Center to ASU, the renovation of the historic Bridge House, and the addition of three and a half miles of walking trail.
"We think contracts will be signed very, very shortly, so that we can reinitiate the process of design. Design is expected to take anywhere from five to seven months. We expect to go into construction late summer," said Tommy Chatmon, Albany Tomorrow Inc.
The 8.5 million dollar project is being worked through the city of Albany and will include the memorial to Ray Charles.
