Albany - Most players turn to coaching when they hang up their spikes and glove.
But not first year Darton softball coach Blake Miller.
Miller lso plays shortstop for the United States' national fast pitch softball team.
He took a break from his coaching duties last week to train with Team USA for an AAU international tournament at Walt Disney World over the weeknd.
Team USA won that tournament thanks in large part to Blake Miller who in seven games drove in seven runs with three doubles and a home run.
He also scored the game winning run in the championship gam, reaching base on a leadoff walk.
Miller's week in Florida should also pay off for his Lady Cavalier softball team.
Because the coach plans to teach his team several things he learned last week as a player from Team USA coach Pete Turner
Blake Miller said "The coach I play for is basically, uh, I model myself after him. Because he is the most knowledgeable softball coach that I have ever known. It is alot of fun and I just try to take that in and give the girls the same knowledge."
The next tournament for Blake Miller and Team USA is a Pan American Games qualifier this summer.
The Darton softball team opens their season February 11th in Dothan.
