Albany - An armed robber with a stick attacked an Albany businesswoman this morning.

The man, who was wearing a mask, ran into the AllState Insurance Agency on North Slappey just after eight o'clock this morning.

Agent JoAnne Hawkins and employee Sheri Watson ran out of the building and called police.  As the robber was leaving the building, Hawkins confronted him and he hit her with the stick.

"He hit me over the head with a stick when I tried to stop him.  I'm fine, but I'm scared to death. This was a scary experience," said Hawkins.

The robber jumped a fence behind the business and ran.  Hawkins was treated by paramedics, but did not suffer serious injuries. The robber took several thousand dollars.
