Newton - The new mayor of a small South Georgia town is suing the city and two police officers in connection with the shooting death of her husband.
Mobile home park owner Herschell Bullard was shot to death by Newton police outside his home October 3rd.
Today his wife Markeita, who has since been elected mayor, filed a lawsuit against the men and the city.
Her attorney, T. Gamble, said they are claiming a "battery of constitutional violations, including wrongful death."
The lawsuit doesn't specify damages.
Officer James Freeman and Captain David Zigan claim Bullard fired first.
They face criminal charges in connection with the shooting. Freeman resigned from his post.
A Baker County grand jury indicted the officers on involuntary manslaughter charges in November.
