Valdosta truck driver killed

January 18, 2005

A Valdosta truck driver was killed when he stopped to help a woman trapped in an overturned car.

Fifty-seven year old Robert Allen was driving south on the northeast extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Scranton just after midnight Monday when he saw the wrecked car. As he got out to help, a tractor trailer swerved to miss the car, but hit it and Allen's truck.

Allen was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. The woman in the overturned car wasn't seriously injured.
