Albany -- The Darton Baseball team has only been practicing for a few days.
The Cavs return seven players to this years squad, and play their first game of the season in Florida in about two weeks.
While Darton is looking to improve upon last years second place finish this season, the Cavaliers have already begun preparing for 2007.
Today is the first day high school players are allowed to sign with the school, with Darton bringing in four.
Three of the players were at a signing ceremony at the school today.
Glenn Eames is starting his tenth season as head coach of the Cavaliers, and says a quick start is always important in the signing period.
"We always love to have 3, 4, 5 quality players sign this day, and set the tone for the rest of the recruiting year. We think we've done that today with these players."
Signee Josh Whitehead says, "It feels good to take the next step in my life. It's always been one of my goals, and I finally got to accomplish it."
The 2006 Cavaliers open the season against Okaloosa-Walton in Niceville, Florida.
