Albany-- Saturday on WALB NEWS 10 at six and eleven, we showed you pictures of two men wanted in connection with an armed robbery and shooting in East Albany. Thanks to those photos and viewers like you calling police, one suspect is now behind bars, but they need your help to get the second man off the street.

Traffic still passes by the Dixie Gas Station at 1400 East Broad Avenue but the doors still remain locked on a closed store. "For this act of violence to be taken out against them. That was horrible," says Erik Moore.

Two men entered the store, demanded money, then shot two people inside. 54-year-old Herbert Wells was shot in the head area and owner Gary Patel was shot in the leg. "It shouldn't have happened. Justice shall prevail and hopefully they'll get God," says Moore.

34-year-old Bobby Gene Thomas got arrested and is in custody at the Dougherty County Jail. "He was apprehended on Crawford Avenue on the East side," says Lt. James Williams of APD. However, another piece of the puzzle is still missing from the robbery and shooting, a second suspect.

"We feel that he is dangerous," says Williams, "he's still at large and we're asking that if anyone has seen Eric Scott to notify the police department immediately."

The Kingdom Harvest Ministries Church is right across the street from Dixie. "The owner of the store is a very nice guy. He's offered to aid us in every way we need," says Erik Moore.

Minister Erik Moore says he doesn't understand why anyone would harm the two men but his church offers aid in the form of prayer. "Praying that the criminals are caught and brought to justice and this will not happen again," says Moore. And also prayer that the doors will once again open.

"Hopefully," says Moore.

As of 6 p.m. Sunday night, Herby Wells was still in critical condition in the hospital. Gary Patel has been released. Bobby Gene Thomas faces charges of aggravated assault and attempted robbery. Anyone with information on the second suspect, 26-year-old Eric Scott is urged to call Albany Police.
