Tifton - There are alot of firsts when you are starting a college athletic program.
And the new ABAC women's soccer team recorded another first Thursday afternoon.
ABAC women's soccer coach Jimmy Ballenger signing his first two players and he didn't have drive far for their signatures.
The Fillies signing Tift County High School standouts Natalie Barber and Cassie Couch.
Both are all-region players and they have been teammates since they were seven years old.
Coach Ballenger says this is just the first of many signings since the chance to play right away has generated alot of interested in the ABAC women's soccer program.
Ballenger said "That is just a recruiting tool that I have expressed to the student athletes that when you come here you are going to get a good look and good chance. You are not going to be sitting the bench. You are going to get a full chance to get on the field.
Natalie Barber said "Playing time is a very attractive and it is a great school and I am very excited." Cassie Couch is just excited that she and Natalie Barber will be teammates for two more years.
Couch said "We have always dreamed about it and we talked about it and we never really thought it would happen and it did."
Coach Ballenger plans to sign two more players next week.
