Valdosta - A South Georgia hospital is celebrating a record number of births this year, and expanding their facilities to accommodate the growth.

Doctors at Smith-Northview Hospital in Valdosta delivered their 393rd baby Wednesday. Their goal for 2005 was 365!

The hospital is doubling the size of its nursery and adding six patient rooms to the maternity ward to accommodate all the new mothers and babies.

"Its a great growth and it shows that everything we're doing here is working," said Chuck Roberts. "The mothers seem to be enjoying the care they get here and the attention they get."

Smith-Northview currently has two obstetricians on staff, and will bring in a third doctor in January.
