Valdosta - A Quitman man who escaped from police custody last week is behind bars.

Brooks County deputies arrested 27-year-old Bruce Hallman for probation violation last week. On the way to the jail, he complained of chest pains and was taken to South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. He got away from police in the emergency room, and has been on the run for eight days.

Monday, Valdosta police got a tip and found him hiding at a home on Mills Street. He's in the Lowndes County jail charged with probation violation, escape, obstruction of an officer, and forgery.
