Driver charged after teen dies

December 21, 2005

Boston -- A driver from Whigham is facing charges for hitting and killing a pedestrian.

Carlton Anderson was hit while walking westbound on Railroad Street in Boston on the night of December fourth. The 19-year-old died at Archbold Hospital in Thomasville on Friday. He suffered head and internal injuries and several broken bones.

Police say Anderson was hit by Robert Battis. Battis stopped to help, and was not immediately charged, but he turned himself in to police after Anderson's death.

He's charged with vehicular homicide and driving with a suspended license.
