Valdosta - A South Georgia senator wants you to support our troops financially.

Senator Tim Golden of Valdosta is asking all Georgians to make a year-end, tax deductible contribution to the Georgia National Guard Family Support Foundation. Golden sponsored a bill passed in the 2005 legislative session that allows you to give money by simply checking a box when filing your taxes.

"I'm very proud that starting in January people can check off line 31 of the Georgia tax form and give money to this fund that will go to help families of the National Guard members that are serving overseas," said Golden.

The Family Support Foundation hopes to collect one million dollars this year to give to families of deployed guardsmen.
