Phoebe whistle blowers indicted

December 14, 2005

Albany -- The Phoebe Putney Hospital whistle blowers have been indicted for sending harassing faxes. The author of the Phoebe Factoids is also charged in a confrontation with another Albany doctor.

A special prosecutor presented evidence that resulted in indictments against Dr. John Bagnato and Charles Rehberg.

The indictments come amidst allegations that Dougherty County D. A., Ken Hodges, acted improperly when he turned over his investigative file on Bagnato and Rehberg to Phoebe Putney Hospital.

After that was revealed, Hodges excused himself from the case and today, a grand jury returned an eight count indictment that accuses Bagnato and Rehberg of six counts of harassing faxes and two unrelated counts of aggravated assault and burglary against another Albany doctor.
