Valdosta - A man responsible for taking care of mentally challenged adults is now charged with assaulting them.

Investigators say 18-year-old Frank James beat two adult residents with a belt at the Parkwood Development Center in Valdosta. James is part of the direct care staff at the center.

Police were called there after someone noticed bruises on the men's buttocks. "Witnesses who were employees at the center confirmed that James committed the crime," said Lt. Bernard Robinson.

James is charged with battery, but investigators say more charges will likely follow.
