Tornado doesn't effect election turnout

December 6, 2005

Sylvester- About 625 voters had cast ballots by 5 PM Tuesday in the runoff election for Sylvester Mayor.

Both incumbent Bill Yearta and political newcomer Ronnie Hill say they are confident they'll win the race.

"I know how the outcome it going to come out. It's going to be in my favor, because all the people they're just ready for a change," says Hill.

"It's just a very important election here in our community, and of course we're running on our record and our experience and we just hope folks will come out and vote," Yearta says.

Election officials say turnout may also be high because there is only one precinct for the special election.
