Lee County--Another controversy over development and money in Lee County. People in one neighborhood want to stop a planned development near them.

Tonight, before Lee County commissioners, more than 100 residents showed up to protest a proposed development of smaller homes near their Palmyra subdivision.

A developer has proposed plans for turning about 74 acres of land along Fussell Road into several hundred single residence homes.

Residents living near the undeveloped land say the smaller houses will drop the value of their homes, spark further development, and increase traffic throughout their neighborhood.

"We just want Lee County, that end of it, to be consistently nice homes, and a place that will attract people from other areas," says resident Winona Greenway.

Right now, the area along Fussell Road consists of vacant farm land. Development there could begin as early as four months from now.
