Cairo, Georgia-- Rodolpho Velasquez will spend the rest of his life behind bars for raping his seven-year-old stepdaughter.
The 25 year old pleaded guilty Monday morning in Grady County. Police say Velasquez raped and sodomized the girl in June while under the influence of cocaine. She suffered severe trauma and internal bleeding that required several surgeries.
District Attorney Joe Mulholland says it's the worst rape he's ever prosecuted. "He had basically imposed a life sentence on her through the injuries that she sustained. I don't know if she'll ever be the same. And so, we didn't negotiate with him whatsoever. He pled blind to the charges," says Mulholland.
Velasquez was arrested shortly after the rape at a rest stop in Dooly County. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
