Be a Santa for a senior

December 5, 2005

Valdosta - You can make a senior citizen's holidays a little happier this year.

Valdosta's Super Wal-Mart on Inner Perimeter Road and Home Instead Senior Care teamed up for the "Be a Santa to a Senior" program.

A tree is set up at the entrance to Wal-Mart with ornaments listing a less fortunate senior's Christmas list. You can pick up an ornament, shop for a senior, and drop the gifts off at customer service.

"During this time of year seniors are in need of a lot of compassion and care and these gifts will make them feel appreciated," said Jack Harley, Home Instead Director.

"We've done a little over 130 ornaments so far and receieved more than 60 gifts already," said Hal Harwell, Wal-Mart Manager.

Most of the senior's Christmas lists only have a few items on them totaling less than $15.00.
