Albany - The Dougherty High football program has exceeded expectations since Carror Wright was named head coach of the Trojans two years ago.
Everyone knows about Dougherty's state title in 1998.
But after that championship, Dougherty had three losing seasons and made just one playoff appearance from 1999-2003.
Trojan football fortunes did a 180 degree turn with the hiring of C. Wright after the 2003 season.
Not only has Wright led Dougherty to the AAA state title in just his second season, his record with the Trojans is 20-6 including 11 straight wins at Hugh Mills Stadium.
Dougherty fans have to feel lucky to have coach Wright especially since he chose the Doguherty job over Monroe two years ago.
Coach Wright says no matter where he coaches he just wants to make a difference in the lives of the players he coaches.
Carror Wright said "That is my heart, my love and my dream is to make a difference in our community and I think the best way to do that is through young people. I feel that it is a reason and a purpose that I ended up where I am and I am happy."
Senior quarterback Ronnye Nelson said "He just turned the whole program around. He told us if we stay we will become champions."
