Baker County - Officer James Freeman and Captain David Zigan are charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of Herschell Bullard.

Just before midnight on October 3rd, Newton Police got a call of shots fired at Bullard Trailer Park. They claim when they arrived, Bullard fired into the air and then at them.

The officers shot and killed Bullard. Captain Zigan was also shot. He's okay, but he's off the job on workers comp.

Tuesday afternoon, Officer Freeman informed the City Council he plans to resign.

Bullard's widow, Markeita, went on to win the Newton Mayor's race a month after her husband's death.
