Leading agricultural geneticist dies at 95

Tifton- Ninety-five year old Dr. Glenn Burton passed away around noon Tuesday.

He received nearly 80 awards for his work and developed dozens of new varieties of grass now commonly used in fields and stadiums around the nation. In 1936, Burton began working for the USDA at the Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton.

Funeral services for Burton will be held Friday at 2 PM at the First United Methodist Church in Tifton.
