How dangerous is Albany?

November 22, 2005

Albany -- A Kansas research company ranks Albany, Georgia the 91st most dangerous city in America.

Morgan Quitno Press puts Albany at number 91 in crime statistics out of 369 cities, but it's 21st in crime in cities comparable in size.

"We are down a number of police officers, but you as citizens can help by multiplying the force of police officers by letting them know what is going on," says Assistant D. A. Greg Edwards. "That's the best way citizens can help make our town safer."

The Quitno Press Crime rankings compare population to the numbers of murders, rapes, robberies, burglaries, and stolen cars to come up with their rankings.

    •  Morgan Quitno Press' 12th Annual Safest City Award

A Score of "0.00" would reflect an average crime rate at the national rate in the six crimes reviewed. A positive score reflects an average rate above the national rate. A negative score, shown in parentheses, reflects an average rate below the national rate.
