from the Cordele Police Department

Cordele - On Monday, November 21, at approximately 7:30 p.m. Officer New responded to the 1700 Block of East 16th Avenue in reference to an accident with injuries.

Upon arrival, Officer New observed the victim, Ralph Lusk, age 88 of Centerville, Ohio lying in the roadway with obvious injuries. He was transported by EMS and taken to Crisp Regional Hospital for treatment where he later passed away.

Accident reconstructionist, Officer Easom was notified to investigate the accident.

Mitchell Alexander, age 46 of Cobb, Georgia was traveling westbound on 16th Avenue in the outside lane when he struck Ralph Lusk who was walking northbound across lanes of traffic. Alexander was not cited. (Speed was not a factor.)
