Dealer caught with coke in car

November 21, 2005

Thomasville- A man police say is a big time cocaine dealer is in the Thomas County Jail.

Anthony Akery was arrested on Saturday night at the intersection of Wright and Fern streets. He had been pulled over for not wearing a seatbelt.

Officers say they found two sandwich bags filled with more than 12 grams of crack inside his car.  "Any arrest is good when they're selling drugs, but this is a dealer amount. It was separated into two bags. It was not for personal use," Drug Squad Commander Kevin Lee said.

Akery is charged with posession of cocaine with intent to distribute. If convicted, he could spend up to ten-years in prison.
